LFA 127’s Ozzy Diaz Ready for Call Up, And He’s Already Got It

Commerce, CA — Following LFA 127 on Friday, Legacy Fighting Alliance has a new middleweight champion in Ozzy Diaz.

He might not be sticking around long, however.

After Diaz (7-1) scored a TKO victory against Bruno Assis, talk was already on the rise about him joining the big show in the UFC.

“Whatever comes next, comes next. That’s out of my control. If the UFC wants to call, I’ll be ready,” he told Cageside Press immediately after the fight. “Best believe I’ll be ready. What comes next, comes next. This is what I do, this is what I am. Where ever I fight doesn’t matter, I’m going to continue to do the same things that I do, and continue to get better. And when they call, and believe me they will, I’ll be ready.”

The call, it seems, has already come. While it won’t be direct to the UFC for Diaz, he’s been given on spot on Dana White’s Contender Series. LFA CEO Ed Soares announced the news following Friday’s event.

As for the fight with Assis, it was a wild couple of minutes to be sure. “It’s a couple minutes, but I had to go through hell for those few minutes that I was in there,” Diaz told Cageside Press. “He hit me good, but nothing that I haven’t seen before. I’m just f*cking, I’m so happy. I’m so happy.”
