Tom Aspinall had a world of opportunity in front of him in the UFC London main event. That opportunity, however, was in the form of a mountain of a man known as “Drago” — Alexander Volkov.

A win for Aspinall, and he’d no doubt break into the top 10 of the heavyweight division. A win for Volkov, and he’d inch closer to what had long eluded him — a UFC title shot.

Both fighters took the center of the octagon after a touch of gloves.  A low kick from Aspinall started the fight. A 1-2 from Aspinall landed, followed by a body kick from Volkov. Aspinall landed a trip takedown on Volkov. Aspinall started dropping elbows from Volkov’s half guard. Volkov got cut from the elobws. Volkov got back to his feet and ate a punch. 2:25 left, and Aspinall landed a kick and 1-2. Aspinall landed another kick and tripped. Aspinall landed another takedown with less than two minutes left. Volkov gets trapped in a straight arm lock and is forced to tap. And that’s a wrap!

What a win for Aspinall’s first UFC main event in front of a sold-out London crowd.

Aspinall is now 4-0 in the UFC with four stoppages. After his win, Aspinall called out Tai Tuivasa. SIGN US UP.
