UFC 273: Newlywed Ian Garry Plans to Take Hype and Run With It

The UFC 273 fight card will have one of the UFC’s top prospects in Ian Garry taking on Darian Weeks on April 9 in Jacksonville, FL. This will be the welterweight’s second fight with the organization, and we got a chance to catch up with Garry prior to the bout.

Before his latest fight, Ian Garry had the chance to wed his fiancée in a Las Vegas ceremony just over a week ago. Speaking to Cageside Press not long after, Garry shared that “Me and the misses went away, we got married, we had an amazing weekend. Everything was perfect, we had so much fun, I couldn’t be happier. Everything I’ve wanted in life I’ve gotten and I’m going to keep that train going.”

For those that aren’t aware, Garry actually has his own company which is “The Future Group Co.” In regards to his business venture, Garry explained that “Everything we do is completely different. I don’t want to be the normal person where you get the normal clips that people make. I like having a hands-on approach on every shoot or interview. I like being in control of the content we put out.” Garry has a team that works for him, and his wife, who has worked as a TV host, is one of those key contributors. Together, they make all the difference to ensure his success both inside and outside the octagon.

Garry is extremely confident in himself and his team. UFC 273 will be his second career UFC fight, and both have been scheduled for Pay-Per-View cards. “This is my second pay-per-view card and second fight. I’m the reason we’re on the PPV card. I’ve got a lot of hype, I know this, I’m going to run with it.”

Ian gave me his prediction for the fight with Darian Weeks, as he did back in November of 2021 ahead of his promotional debut. “Again, knockout. Everyone loves knockouts. I think I’ll knock him out in the first eight minutes.”

You’ll have to tune into UFC 273 on April 9 to catch this highly respected prospect and see if his prediction comes true. But Garry has no issue with calling his shots: he’s done it before after all.

“I knew it was coming. I knew that finish was coming,” he said, reflecting on his debut in November of last year. “I knew I was going to get the knockout. It honestly felt amazing. There’s a difference— I speak it, I have no problem saying ‘I’m going to knock him out in the first round,’ I have no problem saying ‘I’m going to do this.’ I have no fear in putting it out to the world.”
