Light heavyweights clash in the main event of UFC Vegas 48 as strikers Johnny Walker and Jamahal Hill do battle. Hill has been on the rise since appearing on the Contender Series in 2019, winning four of five fights in the Octagon (one win overturned for marijuana use) with three stoppages. Walker has slowed down since knocking out his first three UFC opponents in devastating fashion, losing three of his last four. All but two writers picked Hill.
The co-main event features prospect Kyle Daukaus taking on Jamie Pickett. Daukaus, a former CFFC champion, has underperformed in the UFC with a 1-2 record and one no contest. His last fight against Kevin Holland ended due to an accidental clash of heads. After losing his first two fights in the Octagon, Pickett has bounced back with two straight wins. All but one writer picked Daukaus.
Heavyweights take center stage as Parker Porter battles Alan Baudot. Porter has won two straight since losing to the older Daukaus brother, Chris. Baudot is looking for his first Octagon victory after a loss in his first fight and a no contest in the second. All but two writers picked Porter.
Jim Miller, the man with the most wins in UFC history, welcomes Nikolas Motta to the promotion. Miller still has it at 38 years old, owning two stoppages in his last four fights. Motta is 12-3 in his career, winning a CFFC title before being featured on the Contender Series. All but one writer picked Miller.
Fiery strikers Joaquin Buckley and Abdul Razak Alhassan start the UFC Vegas 48 main card. Buckley is 3-2 in the Octagon with all of his wins coming by knockout. Alhassan is 5-4 in the promotion with all of his wins coming by knockout as well. Both men are coming off wins. Buckley was picked by four of seven writers.
