A featherweight dust-up featuring Jamall Emmers (18-6) and Daniel Pineda (27-14, 3NC) is the latest addition to the UFC’s May 14 card.

Both fighters confirmed the booking on social media Wednesday, following an initial report by MMA Junkie. Come May, both fighters will be looking to get back in the win column.

Pineda’s return to the UFC (he originally competed in the promotion from 2012 to 2014, posting a record of 3-4) has had its ups and downs so far. He made an immediate impact at UFC 252 in 2020, finishing Herbert Burns by TKO. In his next outing, Pineda dropped a high profile fight to Cub Swanson; after that, an eye poke left him unable to continue against Andre Fili, resulting in a No Contest.

Emmers, who joined the promotion in 2020, is 1-2 inside the octagon thus far. After coming up short on Dana White’s Contender Series in 2018, Emmers worked his way through the regional scene, jumping to the big show off wins in LFA and elsewhere. Emmers’ lone win inside the octagon came against Vince Cachero in August of 2020, and is sandwiched between two losses: to Giga Chikadze and Pat Sabatini.

No venue, location, or broadcast plan has been officially announced for the UFC’s May 14, 2022 event. Currently expected for the card are the following match-ups:

  • Lauren Murphy vs. Miesha Tate
  • Viviane Araújo vs. Andrea Lee
  • Frank Camacho vs. Manuel Torres
  • Daniel Pineda vs. Jamall Emmers
