The final stop before Saturday’s UFC 270 in Anaheim was the ceremonial weigh-in for the Pay-Per-View Card.

The event had hit a couple of speed bumps on Friday, losing two fights prior to the morning’s official weigh-in. On the main card, Rodolfo Vieira vs. Wellington Turman was lost; on the prelims, a popular pick for Fight of the Night, Ilia Topuria vs. Charles Jourdain.

In the case of Topuria vs. Jourdain, weight cutting issues appeared to be the culprit. Rather ironically, Topuria had ripped into Movsar Evloev earlier in the week for pulling out of an earlier match-up. Karma is a cruel mistress.

The heavyweight title unification fight pairing atop the card, meanwhile, had one last chance to face off. While they kept things professional throughout Fight Week, the chilly relations between former teammates (or, not teammates, according to Ngannou, much to the surprise of Gane) were on full display throughout, and following Friday’s ceremonial photo op, they could finally focus on the fight.

There would be no more distractions for co-main event flyweights Deiveson Figueiredo and champ Brandon Moreno either. Leading into the bout, a falling out between Moreno and Henry Cejudo, who was now coaching Figueiredo, had been highlighted. Would Cejudo being in the ex-champ’s corner give him the edge in the pair’s third fight?
