LFA 122: Carlos Mota Plans to Knock Out Charles Johnson, Jump to the UFC

Carlos Mota is predicting a knockout in his flyweight title fight at LFA 122.

It has been a very frustrating few years for Mota (6-0). After not fighting at all during 2020, he had a shot at the LFA flyweight title at LFA 100; however, travel restrictions forced him to withdraw from the highly anticipated event. Next, he was scheduled for LFA 111, but his opponent pulled out. Thankfully, “Tizil” finally was able to fight shortly after, but it was up almost two weight classes.

After all of the ups and down, Mota will finally fight for the LFA flyweight title at LFA 122 in St. Louis, Missouri. He challenges Charles Johnson for the strap.

“I respect Charles Johnson. He’s the champion for a reason. He has good techniques and is well-rounded, but we’re 100% ready,” Mota told Cageside Press in an exclusive interview through his Coach Fransico Bueno.

While he respects his opponent, he believes he will knock him out and take his title.

“This is my moment; this is my time… I predict that I will knock him out in the second round. We’ve been doing a lot of work, me and my coach so, we’re ready; the energy is about to the sky. I believe in my power and my agility,” Mota said.

Every single LFA flyweight champion has been signed to the UFC. Names such as Casey Kenney, Brandon Royval, and Jimmy Flick. Mota believes he will be among those names.

When asked if he sees himself going to the UFC directly after the fight, he said “of course.”

He added, “I deserve to be there. I’m ready.”
