Report: The Ultimate Fighting Championship will be returning to Houston’s Toyota Center for the ninth time on February 12, 2022 for UFC 271.
The UFC is heading back to Texas as UFC 271 on February 12 will be taking place in Houston. MMAJunkie was first to report the news.
Last year, the UFC announced a multi-event partnership with Houston’s Toyota Center that also assured a “prospective pay-per-view” event for 2022. To date, the arena has already hosted the UFC eight times. The state of Texas as a whole since 2020 has become a location of great appeal for not only combat sports but entertainment events in general in the United States as it has remained open with their restrictions compared to other states amidst the coronavirus pandemic. Aside from Las Vegas and Yas Island (“Fight Island”) in Abu Dhabi, the UFC has only held events in Jacksonville, Glendale, and Houston since May 2020.
The first event under the new partnership was UFC 265 in August that saw Houston native Derrick Lewis compete for the heavyweight championship against Ciryl Gane. Earlier in the year, UFC 262 in May saw the lightweight championship bout between Charles Oliveira and Michael Chandler sell out the Toyota Center.

No headliner or undercard details have been officially announced by the promotion, but it is expected that a middleweight championship bout between Israel Adesanya and former title challenger Robert Whittaker will headline the event.
