A welterweight showdown has been added to the UFC’s February 5, 2022 event.
Undefeated Kazakh fighter Shavkat Rakhmonov is set to face Brave CF and UAE Warriors vet Carlston Harris on that date. Rakhmonov confirmed the booking on social media following an initial report by Freak MMA on Instagram.
Rakhmonov (14-0) made his promotional debut last October, submitting longtime octagon veteran Alex Oliveira at UFC 254. He followed that up with a submission of another Brazilian veteran, Michael Prazeres, this past June.
Harris (17-4) has also won his first two UFC fights. He debuted in May, submitting Christian Aguilera, then put Impa Kasanganay away this past September.
Given the pair have finished all of their combined bouts inside the octagon, the likelihood for a stoppage in this one feels high.
The UFC’s February 5, 2022 card does not yet have an official location, venue, or broadcast plan announced.
The following fights have been reported for the event thus far:
Marc-André Barriault vs. Chidi Njokuani
