Michael “Maverick” Chiesa (17-5 MMA, 11-5 UFC)

Lightweight (155lbs): 7-4 (UFC), TUF 15 Winner, Missed weight 2x in the UFC

Welterweight (170lbs): 4-1 (UFC)

Michael Chiesa is a long time alum of the WCC series. Chiesa was The Ultimate Fighter Season 15 winner at 155lbs before missing weight in his second UFC fight back in 2013.

Michael, a wrestler, cut a lot of weight to get down to the lightweight division.

Chiesa would miss weight again in 2018 before losing to Anthony Pettis and ultimately decided to move up to welterweight.

Since moving up to welterweight, Chiesa (6’1″, 75.5″) has looked magnificent, save for his only loss, a quick first round submission to Vicente Luque, in his most recent bout.

Chiesa is right on the cusp of getting some of the top fights in the division and a mere few fights from being in the title conversation. And Michael’s decision to halt his excessive weight cut was, no doubt, one of the factors to his solid run in the UFC’s 170lbs divison.
