Bellator 268: Brent Primus Respects Benson But “I’m Going To Try And Knock Him Out”

Phoenix, AZ – Former champions collide as Brent Primus takes on Benson Henderson at Bellator 268 at Footprint Center on Saturday night.

Primus (10-2) is coming off a split decision loss to Islam Mamedov at Bellator 257 in July which he feels he should have won.

“It irritating that fight. I think I won, I don’t think Islam was trying to finish me or advance positions or trying to punch me. He was just defending the whole entire time. I heard the crowd booing which got to me deep inside. I never want to hear that again. So I’m going to go out there and throw bombs and make this an exciting fight and get that win,” Primus said.

Primus is well aware that his opponent is a former champion that has fought at the highest levels of MMA and has some legendary fights on his resume.

“I respect him a lot. He’s fought some of the best lightweights in the world and he’s done a lot for the sport. Nothing but respect. When I go in that cage I’m going to try and knock him out and kill that dude.”

As far as getting his belt back? Primus sees a quick road there with a win over Henderson.

“Next fight man. I’m going to go out there and smash Benson and I think I should definitely be in line for a title fight. Specially since the guys that are fighting for it, Patricky [Pitbull] is coming off two losses, and [Peter] Queally hasn’t really fought anybody. Not only that he’s only fought twice in the last three-and-a-half years. I think that hell yeah I should be up next for sure.”

The first step will be a win over Bensons Henderson.
