After a false start earlier this year, behemoths Mariusz Pudzianowski and Serigne Ousmane Dia, better known as Bombardier, will finally face off at October’s KSW 64.
Promotion officials announced the news Tuesday via press release. The event takes place October 23, 2021 in Lodz, Poland, with the match-up billed as one of the card’s “main events.”
Pudzianowski (15-7) and Bombardier (2-0) were first paired up at KSW 59 earlier this year. The day of the fight, the massive Bombardier was forced to withdraw after suffering an acute appendicitis attack; that led to judoka Nikola Milanović stepping in literally on just a few hour’s notice against the former World’s Strongest Man. It went about as well as you’d expect, with Pudzianowski earning a first-round TKO.
Heading into KSW 64, the popular Polish heavyweight has won three straight, all via TKO. At 44-years of age and counting, “Pudzian” may not have much time left in the sport, but fans continue to eat up these spectacle match-ups.
Bombardier himself is quite the spectacle. A super heavyweight, he dominated in traditional wrestling in his native Senegal before jumping to MMA in the mid-2010s. He made his pro debut in 2018, and had won two fights prior to the pandemic hitting last year. A two-time King of the Arena champion in Senegalese wrestling, he stands a towering 6’6″ and weighs in somewhere around 330lbs — meaning that for once, Mariusz Pudzianowski will be the smaller man.
KSW 64 is also set to feature bantamweight champion Sebastian Przybysz, against an opponent yet to be announced.
