A fight that was itself booked to salvage Nikolas Motta’s spot on the UFC Vegas 37 card is now off.
On Thursday, UFC officials announced that Nikolas Motta vs. Cameron VanCamp had been dropped from Saturday’s Fight Night event. The announcement, posted to the UFC’s official website, cited an undisclosed injury to one of the fighters.
“Due to injury, the lightweight bout between Nikolas Motta and Cameron VanCamp is canceled from this weekend’s card,” officials wrote in a statement.
VanCamp (15-5-1, 1NC) had been tapped by the promotion to replace Jim Miller, Motta’s originally scheduled opponent. Miller was forced out of the event due to COVID-19 protocols.
Riding a four-fight win streak and with 13 finishes among his 15 wins, VanCamp will now have to make his octagon debut another day.
Brazil’s Motta (12-3) was also making his promotional debut, after picking up a win on the Contender Series last year. He currently sits on a three-fight win streak of his own.
