UFC Vegas 33’s weigh-ins on Friday didn’t exactly go off without a hitch.
While main event middleweights Uriah Hall and Sean Strickland both successfully made weight, the card lost two fights Friday, and two fighters missed weight.
Nicco Montano was the worst offender, missing the bantamweight limit by a full seven pounds. With a history of weight cutting troubles, this latest stumble could spell the end of Montano in the UFC. It certainly spoiled the weekend for opponent Wu Yanan, with the fight being scratched as a result of the weight discrepancy between the two fighters.
Phil Rowe also missed weight, by 2.5lbs, though his bout will go forward. Another will not: Ronnie Lawrence was unable to weigh in at all on Friday, leading to the cancellation of his fight against Trevin Jones.
