UFC Vegas 32: Where Dillashaw Stands

T.J. Dillashaw has served his time, and after a lengthy suspension, he is officially back in the mix, returning at UFC Vegas 32 this weekend.

After a two-year ban for use of EPO, credit to him for being adamant about fighting Cory Sandhagen for his return. Coming back after such a long layoff against a fighter who is at his peak and coming off of a devastating knockout over Frankie Edgar speaks volumes about Dillashaw’s mindset. His willingness to take such a dangerous fight at this juncture is impressive.

People tend to think of Dillashaw as trying to rebound from a suspension, but it’s much more than that. When gets forgotten in the mix is that he got that suspension on the heels of a first-round knockout loss to Henry Cejudo, which was followed by invasive shoulder surgery.

The fight on Saturday night is a situation of a man once champion hitting the lowest of lows, only to finally return after two years away to reassert himself as a contender in the division and attempt to earn the respect of fans in the process. Or try to, at the very least. Stylistically, there’s no way this fight isn’t a banger. Whether it lasts three rounds or 30 seconds, it’s destined to be an entertaining tilt, which at the end of the day, is what we are all here to see.
