Dustin Jacoby has a new opponent for his upcoming August fight.
On Tuesday, Jacoby’s gym Factory X announced that he will now be fighting Darren Stewart on August 28 at a yet-to-be-announced UFC event. Jacoby was originally scheduled to welcome Askar Mozharov to the UFC.
Since coming back to the UFC, Jacoby (14-5-1) has been on a roll and has been busy. He started his 2020 by winning a contract to return to the UFC by defeating Ty Flores via unanimous decision. “The Hanyak” would make his official UFC return two months later by finishing Justin Ledet in the first round, giving him his walking papers in the process. Jacoby has already fought twice in 2021. First, he defeated Maxim Grishin in a very close unanimous decision, and then in May; he fought to a split draw with Ion Cutelaba.
Stewart (12-7-2) will be wasting no time getting back to work. Last month he was defeated by Eryk Anders via unanimous decision in their rematch. “The Dentist” has hit a rough patch in his career. 1-3-1 in his last five fights and really needs a win. This fight with Jacoby will be his second at light heavyweight, something he says won’t be permanent.
No location, venue, or broadcast details have yet to be announced by the promotion for UFC’s August 28 event.
