Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship has announced another new multi-fight deal with a former UFC standout. On Thursday, BKFC revealed that they had signed Alan Belcher. A proud native of Biloxi, MS, the 37-year old Belcher was a stalwart at 185 pounds in UFC for close to a decade, amassing an overall career MMA record of 18-8.
“We’re very proud to announce our signing of Alan Belcher,” stated Dave Feldman, President of BKFC in a press release announcing the news. “Personally, I’ve been a fan of Alan’s since his early days in UFC and he’s been supportive of BKFC the last couple of years coming to our shows in Biloxi. He expressed interest in competing and we were able to make a deal that is beneficial to both of us.”
“He’s in phenomenal shape after taking some off and fits right in with our very deep heavyweight division.”
In the same announcement, Belcher stated that “I love what BKFC is doing, the company is showing tremendous growth, their event production is first-class and I expressed to Dave that I wanted to be part of it. Mentally and physically, I’m in the best shape of my life, a true world-class athlete at the age of 37.”
“For me, this is about solidifying my legacy by becoming a BKFC World Champion. I want to represent the company and help it continue to gain popularity all over the world.”
Among the names Belcher has fought against over the years are Marvin Eastman, Kendall Grove, Patrick Cote, Jason MacDonald, Denis Kang, and Rousimar Palhares. Not to mention Yushin Okami and Michael Bisping — who represent the final two fights of Belcher’s MMA career.
The Talent‘s last mixed martial arts contest took place in a losing effort to Bisping, the future middleweight champion. The technical decision loss transpired at UFC 159 in April 2013.
The BKFC debut for Belcher is being mapped out for August of this year in his hometown of Biloxi, Mississippi.
