Before the smoke had even cleared at Saturday’s KSW 60, which saw Phil De Fries secure the fifth defense of his heavyweight title, the promotion’s next card had been announced.
KSW officials announced during Saturday’s broadcast that heavyweight star and former World’s Strongest Man Mariusz Pudzianowski would return for the second time in 2021, taking on light heavyweight veteran Lukasz Jurkowski.
Jurkowski (17-11) is a KSW original, winner of the original KSW 1 single-night tournament in 2005. He would return at KSW 2 and KSW 3, and later throughout the non-tournament era, finding considerable success in the Polish promotion.
Among his more notable wins, Jurkowski holds victories over Attila Vegh and Sokoudjou. He has also shared the cage with Francis Carmont and Martin Zawada.
Mariusz Pudzianowski (14-7), meanwhile, needs no introduction. The heavyweight is the promotion’s biggest star, and has been ever since his debut. Back in March, “Pudzian” had been expected to take on the massive “Bombardier” a.k.a. Serigne Ousmane Dia. However, with the super heavyweight falling ill, Pudiznowski instead made short work of short notice replacement Nikola Milanović. A judoka, the Serbian had been making his MMA debut on just a few hour’s notice in the fight.
Prior to that bout, Pudzianowski had defeated social media star Erko Jun.
KSW 61 is expected to take place on June 6, 2021 and will be broadcast on KSW TV. No other fights have been announced for the card.
