UFC Vegas 23 is in the books and while it had its share of violence, there was a small number of medical suspensions doled out. Some of this included winners walking away unscathed (like Jarjis Danho who hit the big KO), but there was also a fight where neither fighter required a medical suspension (Jack Shore’s win over Hunter Azure). However, despite the small number, the total length given out wound up being pretty high due to a number of six month suspensions, which included plenty to winners.

The most notable winner with a suspension on the way is Mackenzie Dern. In her round one dismantling of contender Nina Nunes, Dern appears to have injured her thumb and will need x-rays to clarify the injury. The same goes for main card winners Julian Marquez and Arnold Allen. Marquez defeated Sam Alvey with a technical submission and Arnold Allen took the co-main event over Sodiq Yusuff by decision. Both have injuries to their hands sustained in their fights, and will need to visit to the doc. Finally, John Makdessi, who won a decision over Ignacio Bahamondes in a wild fight, appears to have injured his foot and will face 180 days off as well.

Each of the above suspensions can be lessened with the appropriate doctor’s clearance.
