Two of the UFC’s premiere women’s flyweight prospects will face off at a Fight Night event on July 24.

As first reported by ESPN, Miranda Maverick (9-2) will throw down with Maycee Barber (8-2) on that date. With a combined age of just 45 (Maverick is 23, Barber is 22), the fight should give a glimpse of what the 125lb division’s future will look like.

The bout also sees the flyweight pair in very different circumstances. Since arriving in the UFC last year, Miranda Maverick has looked solid through two fights. She made her debut at UFC 254 on Fight Island, defeating Liana Jojua via a doctor’s stoppage TKO following just a single round. Maverick dominated the action for as long as it lasted. This year, she returned against Canadian Gillian Robertson, the most active female flyweight on the roster. Despite some adversity on the ground, Maverick went on to win a unanimous decision.

Maycee “The Future” Barber, meanwhile, has seen a couple of setbacks thrown her way. Last year, she suffered her first loss, being beat down by Roxanne Modafferi in a fight some considered the Upset of the Year. After time off for knee surgery, she returned this past February, only to lose a unanimous decision against Alexa Grasso.

The only other fight reported for the UFC’s July 24 card thus far is a women’s bantamweight bout between Aspen Ladd and Macy Chiasson. No location, venue, or broadcast plan has been announced for the event.
