There is no love lost in the Bellator 255 rematch between Jack May and Tyrell Fortune.
Back at Bellator 245, May vs. Fortune ended abruptly less than three minutes into round one when Fortune landed a low blow on May. The fight was ruled a no contest, and life went on. May went on to fight Kyle Noblitt in another promotion, and Fortune fought again two months later at Bellator 251.
When Matt Mitrione pulled out of the fight with Fortune, May stepped in when called.
“Give me the ball and let me run with it, there was no hesitation,” May said during the Bellator 255 media day this week.
With how the fight ended the first time around, there has been trash talk leading up to the rematch, and the fight has become a bit heated.
“There has been some back and forth on Instagram,” said May. “For me, I don’t make it personal, it’s just business. So I am here to do a job. But to hype the fight and take it to the next level, a little sh*t talking never hurts.”
When asked if he should have continued after being hit low in their first fight because there was insulation that he should have, May replied, “No, some of us have bigger nuts than others. It’s that way I look at it, but we all have our ways to look at things.”
He continued, saying that “I did what I could, and you know, two emergency trips, pissing blood and not being able to function for over a month. I know in my heart that I go to bed easy. My conscience is at ease with what happened.”
