UFC 260 goes down this weekend, with the “biggest, baddest” rematch possible topping the card. That comes in the form of Stipe Miocic vs. Francis Ngannou, meeting again for the second time.
The pair’s first meeting, in 2018, saw Miocic weather the early storm from the power-punching “Predator,” and go on to win a unanimous decision. Since that time, Miocic lost his title, then won it back, in a trilogy with Daniel Cormier. In fact, the only man Miocic has even faced since the first Ngannou fight was Cormier. But will that play a factor in this weekend’s rematch?
Ngannou’s run since that 2018 title bid has been very, very different. After a setback in a snoozefest against Derrick Lewis, Ngannou went on a tear. Now 34, the heavyweight from Cameroon has finished Curtis Blaydes, Cain Velasquez, Junior Dos Santos, and Jairzinho Rozenstruik. Not a single one of the four, which includes two former champs and two top contenders, made it out of the first round.
Will that ferocious power be enough to do in 2021 what he could not in 2018? We’ll find out soon enough, with the event going down this Saturday, March 27 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.
Ahead of the event, the UFC will host a pre-fight press conference on Thursday. Tune in starting at 5PM ET. The live stream is available above.
