Former UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley will be looking to get back in the win column as he takes on perennial contender Vicente Luque at UFC 260 on March 27.

Former welterweight champion Tyron Woodley will be hoping to snap a three fight skid when he meets perennial contender Vicente Luque at UFC 260 on March 27.  ESPN was the first to report the news of the welterweight clash, which will be part of the second pay-per-view that month.

Luque confirmed the bout on social media on Tuesday.

Woodley (19-6-1) will be looking to return to the win column after three disheartening losses that saw him get shut out against Kamaru Usman, Gilbert Burns, and Colby Covington.  His current losing streak has been drastic, as prior to his skid he was regarded as one of the best welterweight champions in UFC history. That, after winning the title in 2016 and defending it three times.  Following the loss to Covington last September, UFC President Dana White told reporters that Woodley should “start thinking about hanging it up.”  White and Woodley briefly had friction in October after White told reporters that Woodley was “the hardest fighter he ever had to deal with.”  White would come out soon afterward to say the two had settled their differences following the statement.

Vicente Luque (19-7-1) entered the UFC through The Ultimate Fighter on Season 21 in 2015 where he was part of Team Blackzilians.  While he did not win the show, he has gone on to post an impressive 12-2 record inside the Octagon.  “The Silent Assassin” is currently riding a two fight win-streak over Niko Price and Randy Brown, most recently fighting last August.  Ranked ninth in the division, Luque would likely make a jump in the rankings as a victory over Woodley is his most high profile opponent to date.

From 2017 to 2019 Luque went on a six-fight win streak that landed him a shot against Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson — only to come up short, losing a unanimous decision.  During his UFC run, the Brazilian has earned three Performance of the Night and three Fight of the Night bonuses.

UFC 260 on March 27 is scheduled to be headlined by a championship double-header with heavyweight champion Stipe Miocic meeting Francis Ngannou in a rematch and featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski meeting Brian Ortega in the night’s co-feature.  No location or venue has been officially announced for the event.  The following fights are attached to the card:

Stipe Miocic (c) vs. Francis Ngannou – for the UFC heavyweight championship
Alexander Volkanovski (c) vs. Brian Ortega – for the UFC featherweight championship
Jimmy Crute vs. Johnny Walker
Modestas Bukauskas vs. Michał Oleksiejczuk
Tyron Woodley vs. Vicente Luque
Jessica Penne vs. Hannah Goldy
