ONE Championship brought a little violence to Christmas Day, as Collision Course II aired Friday, December 25. A tape-delayed show recorded earlier in the month at the Singapore Indoor Stadium, the card featured the return of Kairat Akhmetov on the MMA side of things, and a Muay Thai main event between Samy Sana and Jamal Yusupov.
Akhmetov (23-2) was a former flyweight champion in ONE. After defeating Adriano Moraes to win the belt in 2015 then losing it in his next fight, in a rematch in 2017, “The Kazakh” had posted a 3-1 record inside the ONE cage. His biggest enemy, however, has been inactivity, and once again, Akhmetov was coming off an extended hiatus, having not fought since March 2019.
At Collision Course II, he’ll be paired up with South Korean Dae Hwan Kim (15-6-1), who was looking to snap a two-fight losing streak.
