Despite being on an 0-4 run currently, Hannah Cifers lives to fight another day inside the octagon. And her next opponent is expected to be Emily Whitmire.
The duo will compete February 20, at a UFC event not yet officially announced. MMA Fighting was first to report news of the booking Monday.
Cifers (10-7) stayed busy during the pandemic in 2020, competing four times. However, she came up short on each occasion, dropping fights to Mackenzie Dern, Angela Hill, Mariya Agapova, and Mallory Martin. During that run, she made the move up to flyweight, then returned to strawweight for her last outing against Martin, only to miss weight by a single pound.
Prior to her current skid, “Shockwave” Cifers had won both her fights in 2019.
The fight against Whitmire is expected to be at 115lbs.
Whitmire (4-4) competed just once in 2020, losing via submission to Polyana Viana this past August. That was 29-year old’s second consecutive loss. Overall, “Spitfire” is 2-2 over her last four bouts inside the octagon.
The UFC’s February 20, 2021 event, while not officially announced, is expected to feature the following bouts:
Dominick Reyes vs. Jiri Prochazka
William Knight vs. Alonzo Menifield
Sabina Mazo vs. Alexis Davis
Raoni Barcelos vs. Raphael Assuncao
Alex Oliveira vs. Randy Brown
Emily Whitmire vs. Hannah Cifers
