ONE Championship was back in the live event business on Friday with Big Bang, the first of two live events this month from Kallang, Singapore (along with tape delayed bonus shows). Big Bang boasted a light heavyweight kickboxing title fight as its main event, while MMA prospects like Garry Tonon and Ritu Phogat also peppered the card.
In the main event, it was Roman Kryklia taking on Murat Aygun, with Kryklia’s light heavyweight kickboxing title on the line. In the co-feature, Garry Tonon, already ranked #5 in ONE’s featherweight division, was set to take on the more experienced Japanese fighter Koyomi Matsushima. Matsushima himself was ranked third in the weight class, meaning the bout could produce a challenger for champ Thanh Le, who was crowned back in October.
On the ladies’ side, India’s Phogat opened the card against Jomary Torres. A highly anticipated heavyweight bout between Amir Aliakbari and Islam Abasov was expected for this card. Unfortunately, that fight was cancelled.
The action from Singapore gets underway Friday morning at 7:30AM ET. Tune in then for full results, found below, and a live stream of all the action (located above, where available).
Update: Kryklia vs. Aygun is off the card due to a positive COVID-19 test. This is due to Kryklia coming into contact with an infected individual in the past week. Grigorian vs. Kondratev has been promoted to the main event.
