Heavyweight action has been announced for the UFC’s December 19 card.
During Saturday’s UFC 255 Pay-per-View broadcast, the promotion revealed that Greg Hardy (7-2, 1NC) will take on Marcin Tybura (20-6) at the event, the promotion’s final show of 2020.
The event is expected to take place at the Apex Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Hardy will enter the bout off back-to-back wins against Yorgan de Castro and Maurice Greene. The controversial former NFL pro bowler has put together a 4-2 (1NC) record inside the octagon to date. While not without its hiccups, Hardy’s career thus far has been successful enough to keep him in the promotion — and he’s getting a step up in competition once again here. A previous bump up the food chain resulted in a decision loss against Alexander Volkov, but Hardy has had over a year and a couple of fights in which to improve his game.
Poland’s Tybura, a former M-1 heavyweight champion, last fought in October, earning a unanimous decision win over “Big” Ben Rothwell. That victory extended Tybura’s win streak to three, as he’s also picked up unanimous decision victories over Sergey Spivak and Maxim Grishin this year.
The UFC’s December 19 card is set to be headlined by top welterweight contender Leon Edwards taking on red-hot sensation Khamzat Chimaev.
