Julian “The Cuban Missle Crisis” Marquez (7-2 MMA, 1-1 UFC)
Middleweight (185lbs): 1-1 (UFC), Missed weight 1 time
Julian Marquez is a product of the 2017 DW’s Contender Series and immediately turned heads in the UFC with his finish over Darren Stewart at the end of 2017.
But Julian Marquez missed weight ahead of his next, and most recent, fight against Alessio Di Chirico, coming in at 190lbs. Marquez also lost the second fight of his professional career by split decision in the bout the following day.
Marquez has had well over a two-year layoff since his bout with Chirico and will again be fighting in the middleweight division. Julian is a large guy that stands at 6’2′ with a 72″ reach and at 30 years old it is going to be increasingly difficult for Marquez to make the 186lbs. mark.
Julian Marquez has actually had two fights in the light heavyweight division about three and four years ago while he was in the Combate Americas and LFA promotions. Marquez ended both of those bouts at 205lbs with vicious first-round stoppages, so he carries power that fighters feel in a weight class 20lbs heavier.
Julian Marquez will be fined 30 percent for missing weight, per the UFC. Marquez missed weight by four pounds. (@allelbows) #TUF27Finale pic.twitter.com/62bwArpU9J
