Bellator 253 has added another big fight. On Tuesday, Jason Jackson (12-4) revealed on social media that he would be facing Benson Henderson (28-9) at the event.
Cageside Press subsequently confirmed the booking with Bellator MMA officials. The fight will serve as the evening’s co-main event. The fight will be contested at welterweight.
Henderson, a former UFC lightweight champion, recently had a four-fight win streak snapped by Michael Chandler. It was the second loss for “Smooth” to the former Bellator champ, who subsequently left the promotion to join Henderson’s old stomping grounds in the UFC. Prior to that setback, the 36-year old Henderson had earned wins against Myles Jury and Adam Piccolotti, among others.
Jackson, whose nickname “The Ass-Kicking Machine” is more entertaining than it has any right to be, will be getting the toughest test of his career against Benson Henderson. The Kingston, Jamaica-born fighter will enter the bout off back-to-back wins over Kiichi Kunimoto and Jordan Mein, both UFC veterans.
Bellator 253 takes place November 19, 2020 at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Connecticut. The main card is expected to air live on CBS Sports Network. The event will see the continuation of the Bellator Featherweight Grand Prix, with Darrion Caldwell facing A.J. McKee in the main event. Baby Slice, Raufeon Stots, and other names also feature.
