The “Water Buffalo” better known as Fabio Cherant looks to impress again on the regional scene as CES 61 less than 24 hours away. Cherant is coming off an impressive LFA debut after his lone loss on DWCS. The Massachusetts native has long said this sport forgets too soon, and he looks to remind the world just how ready he is.
“I showcased it my last fight, If not I’ll remind people again Wednesday night,” Cherant told Cageside Press ahead of the fight.
Cherant believes that he is one statement win away from calling the UFC his new home. A longtime dream for the light heavyweight, at 5-1, Cherant is nearly there but he knows CES 61 is first on the to do list.
“Knock on wood,” Cherant stated about being in the UFC following CES61. “I hope so, if it’s Contender Series it’s Contender Series but I believe this will be my last regional fight before the Octagon.”
Cherant describes himself as a goofball, he enjoys being different from others and being true to himself.
“I’m a goofball,” Cherant laughed. “I like to do weird stuff, spur off the moment sh*t. You see me on social media I’m just a goofball, I like to be different.”
Well the goofball knows when it’s time to turn on the serious side. And against Yu Gi (3-0) it’ll be needed in what can only be considered one of, if not the, top match-ups of the night. Cherant isn’t focused on his opponent’s strengths, however, but rather more so his own strengths.
“I have no idea [about] anything about him. He’s game with three finishes, that’s all I know,” admitted Cherant. “I know he’s dangerous, but the guys he’s fought can’t mix it up like I can.”
As for the prediction, “it’ll be an early night,” stated Cherant.
Fabio Cherant takes on Yu Gi on Wednesday, October 14 at CES 61 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Warwick, Rhode Island.
