Chris Daukaus showcased his speed yet again at UFC Fight Island 5, finishing Rodrigo Nascimento in less than a minute.

Heavyweights clashed at UFC Fight Island 5 as Chris Daukaus faced Rodrigo Nascimento. Nascimento is a finisher through-and-through, racking up eight finishes in as many fights heading into the bout. The Brazilian had a first-round submission on the Contender Series in 2019 then followed that up in the Octagon with a second round rear-naked choke in May.

Daukaus, who joined the UFC just two months after his younger brother Kyle, was 8-3 when he got his shot at the big stage. He made his promotional debut in August, stopping Parker Porter in the first round. All but one of his wins were by stoppage coming into the fight.

Daukaus landed a two-punch combination right away, then another. A counter-left knocked Nascimento down slowly and Daukaus followed him into top position. Daukaus began cracking him with elbows and ground-and-pound. Somehow, Nascimento was able to scramble to his feet, but Daukaus put him away with another right hand that knocked him down for good. A quick KO for the slim heavyweight.

After the fight, Daukaus, who weighed in at a light 225 pounds, announced that he planned on staying at heavyweight to take advantage of the speed he has compared to bigger opponents. He also revealed that he was not expecting a southpaw opponent for this fight, but as the results show, he made the adjustments quickly.

Chris Daukaus def. Rodrigo Nascimento by KO (Right Straight) in Round 1 (0:45)
