Edson “Junior” Barboza (20-9 MMA, 14-9 UFC)
Featherweight (145lbs): 0-1 (UFC)
Lightweight (155lbs): 14-8 (UFC)
Edson Barboza has lost 5 of his last 6 fights dating back to when he fought now UFC champion, Khabib Nurmagomedov in late 2017. This losing streak also includes his most recent fight, and his debut at 145lbs, when he lost a split decision to Dan Ige back in May. Edson is 34 years old and stands at 5’11” with a 75″ but had a very good easy looking weight cut and didn’t look too depleted on the scale, although absolutely shredded as usual. So the second time around, Barboza knows what to expect as well as the fact that he can make featherweight and perform, so it should make the cut that much easier. Barboza will be taking on Makwan Amirkhani in the co-main event of UFC Fight Island 5 on Saturday in just his second fight in the featherweight division, very hungry for a win.
Edson Barboza successfully makes the drop down to featherweight ahead of #UFCFL 💪
