UFC Fight Island 4’s Carlos Felipe “Will Not Put It in the Hands of the Judges” This Time

Up until his last outing, which happened to be his octagon debut, Brazil’s Carlos Felipe was an undefeated heavyweight. Running up against Sergey Spivak in July on Fight Island, Felipe lost a majority decision in a fight that saw Spivak frequently tying him up and trying to take him down.

Now, Felipe (8-1) returns at UFC Fight Island 4, in the co-main event against Yorgan De Castro.

“I made adjustments, and I feel better than ever,” he told Cageside Press about his reaction to the loss. A loss, he said, that wasn’t about his own mistakes. ” I have to give credit to my opponent.” Felipe noted that he defended Spivak’s takedowns for the better part of two rounds, but Spivak eventually did find success — and the win.

“I will be more aggressive this time,” promised Felipe. “I will not put it in the hands of the judges.”

As for his opponent, De Castro, who was also an undefeated fighter until recently, Felipe said that “I think he’s a good opponent for me. I’m a striker, he’s a striker. It will be a war. I think it will be the fight of the night, for sure.”
