Takashi Sato has some very heavy hands. Takashi throws very long punches that often cut off his opponent’s retreat path and catch them from angles they cant see. Unfortunately, Takashi Sato was removed from UFC Vegas 7 on Friday after he weighed in. But oh, what could have been.
Sato utilizes a stance where he is very light on his feet in order to glide into range on his opponents. Sato was in the Pancrase promotion before being picked up by the UFC in 2019. While with the Japanese promotion Sato racked up 9 first-round finishes mostly all thanks to his slick standup skills, ability to close the distance, and catch fighters on the end of his punches.
Since being brought to the UFC Sato has looked pretty good only losing once and finishing two very game opponents. His last finish, less than about two months ago against Jason Witt was just a beautiful demonstration of everything that Sato does right with his striking. Closes the distance, clean jab with a powerful left hand behind it, connects, and that’s all she wrote.
Sato’s opponent, Daniel Rodriguez, now faces Dwight Grant, who also lost an opponent Friday.
A fast finish for Takashi Sato, who makes quick work of Jason Witt! #UFCVegas4 pic.twitter.com/aKaficZCsF
