The UFC has absorbed a wealth of talent from Invicta FC over the years, and two of them will face off this October.
First reported by MMA Junkie, Loma Lookboonmee and Jinh Yu Frey have been booked for a previously unannounced card on October 3. The event does not yet have an official name, location, or numbering.
Lookboonmee (4-2) made history last October when she became the first Thai-born fighter to compete in the UFC. Making her debut at UFC Singapore, she earned a split decision win over Russian Aleksandra Albu.
In her second fight, however, Lookboonmee came up short against Angela Hill.
She’ll be meeting another Invicta veteran come October. Jinh Yu Frey, the promotion’s former atomweight champion, who has also competed for ROAD FC and RIZIN FF, made her UFC debut last month against Kay Hansen. Hansen won the fight via arm-bar in the third round.
Frey (9-4) defended her atomweight title once in Invicta FC. However, just prior to joining the UFC, she was stripped of the belt for missing weight in a fight against Ashley Cummins. That appeared to facilitate her move up to 115lbs.
The former champ may be best known for her pair of bouts with Ayaka Hamasaki in Invicta and RIZIN, and her back-to-back fights with Minna Grusander. She’s competed as a professional since 2013.
