A rematch between UFC flyweights Andrea Lee and Roxanne Modafferi is being targeted for September 12, more than five years after their first bout.
The Happy Warrior and KGB Lee will meet again. MMAJunkie was first to report that a rematch between Roxanne Modafferi and Andrea Lee is being targeted for a UFC event in Las Vegas on September 12. The two first fought at an Invicta event in 2014 where Modafferi emerged victorious via unanimous decision.
Lee later confirmed the booking on social media.
“The Happy Warrior” Roxanne Modafferi is coming off a loss to Lauren Murphy two weeks ago in Las Vegas by unanimous decision. Since returning to the UFC through The Ultimate Fighter in 2017, Modafferi has alternated wins and losses against the likes of Nicco Montaño (for the inaugural flyweight title), Barb Honchak, Antonina Shevchenko, and Jennifer Maia. In January, she notched arguably the biggest win of her career in upsetting top prospect Maycee Barber on the undercard of an event headlined by Conor McGregor.
Andrea “KGB” Lee is looking to snap a two-fight skid after dropping bouts to current title challenger Joanne Calderwood and Lauren Murphy. A former LFA champion, Lee entered the UFC as one of top signings for the new weight class back in 2018 and immediately impressed with victories over Veronica Macedo, Ashlee Evans Smith, and Montana De La Rosa. Lee was two fights into her professional career when she took the first fight with Modafferi on short notice when Modafferi’s original opponent pulled out. Lee has also discussed having ruptured her ear drum two days out from the fight.
No main event or other details regarding the September 12 card have been released as of yet.
