Dana White’s Contender Series is back for season four and set to run from August to September — with the first event going down on August 4. With more fights rolling in daily, sources have confirmed to Cageside Press that Victor Martinez will take on Tucker Lutz in a lightweight bout. The fight is set to happen on September 1.
Victor Martinez, fighting out of Pharr, Texas, trains out of Team Ferreira. He has a professional record of 12 wins, 4 losses with eight finishes. Martinez is currently on a six-fight win streak dating back to early 2017.
Twice Martinez has fought for Combate Americas, but most of his most recent fights have been for Texas promotion Fury FC. Martinez is actually the current Fury FC 155-pound champion.
Across the cage from Martinez will be the 9-1 Tucker Lutz. Hailing from Reisterstown, Maryland, Lutz trains out of Ground Control Academy. With only one fight going the distance, he’s finished the fight eight times.
Lutz made his pro debut in 2015 and would actually suffer defeat that night. That loss would be his only one, however, as he would go on to win his next nine fights consecutively. He’s fought for the Shogun Fights promotion basically his entire career and has managed to capture both the featherweight and lightweight title there.
As previously revealed by Cageside Press, Jose Johnson vs. Ronnie Lawrence is also set for that date.
