Jessica Eye and Cynthia Calvillo headlined UFC on ESPN 10 from the UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada on Saturday night. The flyweight main event capped a night that started with a string of quick stoppages — plus a grudge match in the co-main event.

The pair went all five rounds in a bout that ultimately saw Calvillo get her hand raised in her divisional debut at 125 pounds. While some were split on who should’ve received the winning nod, Calvillo earns a huge victory against a former title challenger as she begins her road to the title. It will be interesting to see how Eye bounces back from the defeat after being a solid gatekeeper in the division for some time.

Eye struggled at the scales Friday, looking wobbly as she barely missed the mark for the fight at 126.25lbs. Which led to questions regarding how she’d look on Saturday. However, she clearly had it in her to go five rounds.

With champ Valentina Shevchenko currently lined up for a date with Joanne Calderwood, the 125lb division has time on its hands. Which gives Calvillo a chance to build on this win, and potentially insert herself in the title picture early next year.
