Sergey Spivak vs. Carlos Felipe is the latest addition to the July 18 Fight Island card. The heavyweight pairing was first reported by Brazilian outlet Combate on Wednesday. Brazil’s Felipe later confirmed the report on his Instagram story.

Spivak had previously announced he had a fight pending. The pair will meet on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi on July 18, which was recently revealed as the home of Fight Island.

“Boi,” as Carlos Felipe (8-0) is otherwise known, will be making his octagon debut in the fight. He was originally matched up with Jeff Hughes at UFC on ESPN 8, which was expected for Columbus in March. Felipe withdrew, and was later booked against Spivak for UFC 250 on May 9. That card was originally set in Brazil, but the date was claimed by UFC 249 after the deck was shuffled due to the coronavirus. What turned out to be UFC 250 went down this past weekend.

Spivak (10-2) is 1-2 inside the octagon to date. He has sandwiched a win over Tai Tuivasa between losses to Walt Harris and, most recently, Marcin Tybura. The Tybura loss came in February, at UFC Norfolk.

The UFC’s July 18 card is expected to feature a rematch between Deiveson Figueiredo and Joseph Benavidez, who will again fight for the vacant UFC flyweight championship.
