“The Carpenter” will return to the octagon later this month. Per a post on Clay Guida’s official Instagram page, the longtime UFC veteran will be taking on Bobby Green on June 20. It’s a fight that will mark his 29th in the UFC proper, and 32nd factoring in the WEC and Strikeforce, which were eventually scooped up by Zuffa LLC, parent company of the UFC.
Guida (35-19) had a single fight in the WEC, and two in Strikeforce. He was actually signed by Zuffa ahead of WEC 23, making the Green fight his 30th under their banner. His Strikeforce fights came earlier.
The Team Alpha Male fighter has not competed since a loss to Jim Miller last August at UFC Newark. The 38-year-old had picked up a win over B.J. Penn prior to that.
Bobby Green (24–10–1) has lost two straight, and will look to rebound come June 20. He’s dropped fights to Drakkar Klose and Francisco Trinaldo in his last two outings.
The UFC’s June 20 date was recently approved by the NSAC, and is expected to take place at the promotion’s Apex facility in Las Vegas, Nevada. The venue is usually the home of Dana White’s Contender Series. However, the promotion has taken advantage of the location to run shows during the coronavirus pandemic.
