Originally scheduled for UFC 249, a bantamweight bout between Canada’s Sarah Moras and former flyweight contender Sijara Eubanks has found a new home. Although a reconstructed UFC 249 will take place on May 9, Moras vs. Eubanks has landed on the May 13 card in Jacksonville, Florida. The Sports Daily first reported the move.
The UFC is running three shows in the span of a week in the city, at the VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena. The card is expected to air live on both ESPN and ESPN+, as well as TSN in Canada.
Moras (6-5), who told Cageside Press earlier this month that she’d been training in her living room for the fight, is coming off a much-needed win over Liana Jojua at UFC 242 back in September. That snapped a three-fight losing skid for “Cheesecake.”
“Luckily we had some mats in our spare room, so we moved them into the living room so we had a bit more space,” she said of the situation ahead of what was then expected to be a relocated UFC 249 in California.
While not staying on that card, she’s retained her original opponent. Eubanks (4-4) will enter the bout off two straight losses, to Bethe Correira and Aspen Ladd. Eubanks made it to the finale of The Ultimate Fighter 26, and was to fight for the inaugural women’s flyweight title in the promotion. However, complications from her weight cut resulted in her pulling out of the fight. After missing weight the following year for her fight with Roxanne Modafferi, Eubanks returned to 135lbs, where she had competed prior to joining the UFC.
Although the card is yet to be officially named, the UFC’s May 13 event is expected to be headlined by Anthony Smith vs. Glover Teixeira.
