Not surprisingly, Australian heavyweight Tai Tuivasa has been booked to appear on the UFC 251 card in Perth, Australia.
In an announcement on social media, UFC officials have revealed that Tuivasa (9-3) will take on the “Man Mountain” known as Jarjis Danho (5-1-1).
When the pair collide, Tuivasa will look to snap a troubling three-fight losing skid that has him on thin ice with the promotion. Despite an impressive start to his UFC career with wins over Rashad Coulter, Cyril Asker, and Andrei Arlovski, Tuivasa has struggled lately. Steps up in competition against Junior Dos Santos and Blagoy Ivanov in particular seem to have come too soon, but Danho should give a better feel for where Tuivasa is at at the moment.
Danho has not fought since a draw with Christian Colombo back in 2016. He had been booked into a bout with Greg Hardy last October, but withdrew from the fight. Overall, he’s 0-1-1 in the UFC, with the other fight in question being a loss to Daniel Omielańczuk.
UFC 251 is set to take place on June 6, 2020 at the RAC Arena in Perth, Australia. Currently, Valentina Shevchenko is expected to defend her women’s featherweight title against Joanne Calderwood at the event. No other fights have been announced to date, but it would not at all be surprising to see Alexander Volkanovski appear.
