Jinh Yu Frey will defend her atomweight title at Invicta FC 39, while Pearl Gonzalez returns to take on fellow flyweight Miranda Maverick in a key bout at 125lbs.

All-female fighting outfit Invicta FC has announced its first card for 2020. On Thursday, the promotion revealed the bulk of the Invicta FC 39 card, which will feature atomweight champion Jinh Yu Frey facing Ashley Cummins in the main event.

Frey (8-4) and Cummins (7-4) have met before, in a non-title fight prior to Frey’s title reign. Frey won that meeting, then fell to Seo Hee Ham under the ROAD FC banner, with their Super Atomweight championship on the line.

Frey then secured back-to-back wins over Minna Grusander, winning then defending the vacant 105lb title in Invicta FC. A trip to Japan to face old rival Ayaka Hamasaki followed, but Frey lost a unanimous decision against the Japanese champ at RIZIN 16 in June. The pair had originally met under the Invicta banner, a fight Hamasaki also came out on top in.

Cummins, meanwhile, has won two straight bouts en route to her shot at the champ. Most recently, she won a unanimous decision against Jessica Delboni at Invicta FC 32. However, over a year will have passed between that fight and her return against Jinh Yu Frey.
