Sodiq Yusuff and Andre Fili will throw down in January at an event that may or may not be UFC 246.

While the card itself is up in the air, a featherweight scrap between Sodiq Yusuff and Andre Fili is the latest fight to emerge for the UFC’s proposed January 18, 2020 show. While the event was expected to be UFC 246, the promotion’s official website was recently updated to indicate that event will take place in Houston, TX in February.

January 18, 2020 was the expected landing point for the return of Conor McGregor, however, negotiations have not been finalized.

In any event, Fili vs. Yusuff has been penciled in for the date, with the news first being reported by MMA Junkie.

Yusuff (10-1) has won all three of his fights in the octagon since earning himself a UFC contract on Dana White’s Contender Series last year. He’ll be coming off a TKO victory against Gabriel Benitez when he goes up against Fili.

Fili (20-6), meanwhile, has won two straight, against Sheymon Moraes and Myles Jury. His time with the promotion dates all the way back to 2013.

Should the plan for the January 18, 2020 event to be UFC 246 fall through, it seems likely that it will carry on as a Fight Night event. The company has yet to comment officially on its overall schedule for Q1, 2020 however.
