Sijara Eubanks was all over Bethe Correia in the first round of their fight at UFC Mexico City, but Correia rebounded in the final two rounds.

Sijara Eubanks came into UFC Mexico City with a 2-1 Octagon record, falling to Aspen Ladd most recently. Bethe Correia is winless since 2016, going 0-2-1 in that span.

The first round was all Sijara Eubanks. Right from the start, Eubanks was blasting Bethe Correia with hooks and Correia had no response. Eubanks mixed in kicks and continued to land with ease as Correia struggled to generate any offense. “Sarj” then scooped Correia off her feet and dumped her on the canvas and began working from half guard. Eubanks postured up and was landing heavy left hands from top position. Correia was not defending well, but there was not enough time or space against the fence for Eubanks to draw a first-round finish.

Correia began showing more success on the feet in the second round. They are fighting at the highest elevation in UFC history, so Eubanks’ already suspect cardio will be tested. Eubanks was getting caught by Correia’s combinations and began shooting for sloppy takedowns. Correia defended well and nearly secured a takedown of her own. A solid two-piece combination landed for Eubanks but overall it was a very good bounceback round for Correia.

The third round got off to a tentative start, with neither fighter committing to strikes. After nearly 90 seconds expired, Correia threw a multiple punch combination to the head and body. Eubanks tried to respond with a takedown but Correia defended well. Eubanks landed with a solid shot but Correia kept moving forward. The fighters exchanged punches multiple times, with Correia winning the first exchange and Eubanks winning the second and third. Both fighters buckled down and threw shots to the final bell in what ended up being a very close fight.
