UFC Uruguay marks the first time the Octagon has landed in the South American country and the card is headlined by a flyweight title fight.
UFC Uruguay is an ESPN+ card taking place in the Antel Arena with a start time of 5 p.m. EDT and a main card beginning three hours later.
UFC Uruguay has had a rocky build-up to fight night, with five fighters pulling out due to injuries and one fight getting outright canceled. Nevertheless, the main event is still intact with a title on the line as Valentina Shevchenko defends her flyweight belt against Liz Carmouche. This will be the champion’s second defense of her title after her spectacular head kick knockout against Jessica Eye. This will be Carmouche’s second title shot in her UFC career after winning her last two fights at flyweight.
The co-main event is a “Just Bleed” matchup between finishing machine Vicente Luque and Mike Perry. Luque has won nine of his last 10 fights, all by stoppage. Perry has won two of his last three and has knockouts in four of his six Octagon victories. Also on the card is a top-10 light heavyweight bout between Volkan Oezdemir and Ilir Latifi.
