Scott Holtzman and Dong Hyun Ma threw down at UFC Newark, with Holtzman wearing down the very resilient Ma to get a TKO win.
Two hot lightweights who had won three of their last four fights crossed paths at UFC Newark, as Scott Holtzman fought Dong Hyun Ma.
Scott Holtzman started with several leg kicks, then ate a straight punch from Ma. Ma had the center of the Octagon, but Holtzman was content with staying on the outside. He then cracked Ma with an overhand right that dropped him. Holtzman took top position instead of pursuing a finish. He started out in half guard, then moved to knee on belly, then mount while fighting off a headlock from Ma. Holtzman kept Ma down and landed a heavy elbow from half guard. Ma tried to reverse position, but Holtzman kept him down. Holtzman let Ma up, then landed some heavy shots on the feet to close out the round.

Ma started the second round with a right straight, but Holtzman was landing combinations at will. The resiliant Korean kept pushing forward, landing punches of his own into a takedown. Holtzman stood up then broke free after a brief clinch. “Hot Sauce” unloaded on Ma, landing heavy combinations then was knocked down by Ma! Holtzman popped right back up into a standing guillotine attempt from Ma. After breaking free from that, Holtzman landed more heavy blows, but Ma would not go away despite there being significant swelling in his left eye.
