‘The Asian Sensation’ Andre Soukhamthath will head to Asia — China, to be exact — for his next fight, taking on Su Mudaerji at UFC Shenzhen next month.
Andre Soukhamthath (13-7) will have his next fight when the UFC debuts in Shenzhen, China. The Laotian fighter, born in Rhode Island, announced on social media that he’ll fight Su Mudaerji (11-4) at UFC Shenzhen next month. That’s just over a month away, with the card taking place August 31.
Soukhamthath has been an entertaining fighter during his UFC stint, but has struggled to find consistency, and currently sits at 2-4 in the promotion. A high profile loss to Sean O’Malley was followed up with a win over Jonathan Martinez at UFC Moncton last October. However, Soukhamthath dropped a decision to Montel Jackson at UFC 236 in April.
A former CES MMA bantamweight champ, Soukhamthath has never been finished in the UFC, with all his losses coming via decision. He opened his UFC tenure with a pair of split decision losses to Albert Morales and Alejandro Perez, which easily could have gone the other way.
Su Mudaerji (11-4) lost his promotional debut at UFC Beijing last November, falling to Louis Smolka. That put him on a two-fight losing streak, as he was submitted outside the UFC a month earlier by Hao Bin Ma, who has previously competed for ONE Championship.
UFC Shenzhen (UFC Fight Night 157 / UFC on ESPN+ 15) takes place August 31 at the Shenzhen Universade Sports Centre Arena in Shenzhen, China. The card is headlined by a strawweight title fight between champ Jessica Andrande and China’s own Weili Zhang.
