Amanda Cooper will look for greener pastures in Invicta FC, signing with the promotion and joining their Phoenix Rising flyweight tournament bracket.
MMA Junkie’s Nolan King first reported the new home of Amanda Cooper.
Amanda Cooper did not have a good run in the UFC, going 2-4 with the promotion after reaching the finals of The Ultimate Fighter 23. Now she’ll look to change the course of her career in another tournament: Invicta FC’s eight-woman one-night Phoenix Rising tournament. The first installment of the series saw Brianna Van Buren burst onto the scene and subsequently earn a UFC contract. She made her Octagon debut just last weekend, defeating former Invicta FC champion Livia Renata Souza. Obviously, Cooper would love to have similar results in her return to the promotion.
Cooper had just one fight in Invicta before joining the cast of The Ultimate Fighter, and it was a loss in a flyweight bout against current top-five bantamweight Aspen Ladd. Entering TUF at 1-1 as a professional, “ABC” impressed on the show with a 3-0 run including two submissions. She was defeated by top contender Tatiana Suarez in her promotional debut and the show’s finale. Including Suarez, Cooper’s list of UFC losses isn’t one to be ashamed of, falling to Cynthia Calvillo, Mackenzie Dern, and Ashley Yoder. Nevertheless, the stacked strawweight division had no more room for her.
Phoenix Rising 2 will take place in September and will consist of flyweights, marking a move up in weight for Amanda Cooper. She’ll also fight once before the tournament with Lights Out Championship on September 7 (with special permission from Invicta FC). With potentially four fights in the month of September, her 3-5 record could improve in a hurry.
