Light heavyweight prospect Jordan Young is set to return at Bellator 224 against another undefeated talent in Joel Bauman.
One member of Bellator MMA’s stable of young prospects will return at the upcoming Bellator 224. Although the show is a little under two week’s away, news of Jordan Young’s fight against Joel Bauman just broke. MMA Junkie was first to report Bauman’s involvement in the fight, after Young himself announced a few days back that he’d be taking part in the card.
Along with Joey Davis, Logan Storley, James Gallagher, Adam Borics, Ed Ruth, Aaron Pico, A.J. McKee and the Fortune Brothers, Young represents part of the promotion’s future. Bellator has made a sizeable investment recruiting young prospects, bringing them up in house rather than leaving things to chance on the regional scene. With Young 10-0 in his career thus far, the approach seems to be paying off.
Just 24 years old, Young has eight submissions among his ten victories. He’s coming off a win over Anthony Ruiz, and will no doubt be the favorite over Bauman. However, Bauman himself is an undefeated fighter at 3-0. All three of the Minnesota native’s wins have come under the LFA banner, with the last ending with a head kick.
Bauman, 28, also had a solid amateur career, but he’ll enter as the underdog against Jordan Young.
Bellator 224 takes place July 12 at the Winstar World Casino and Resort in Thackerville, Oklahoma. Julia Budd defends her featherweight title in the main event against Olga Rubin.
